Educational Outreach Event: StartUp Moxie
Company: Encore RV
Role: Marketing Director / Event Planning
Audience: Elkhart High School StartUp Moxie Group

About StartUp Moxie
A group of students from Elkhart High School visited Encore as part of their Startup Moxie program.
Startup Moxie is a selective program where students must apply and be accepted. Participants earn college credit while learning about businesses and how to start and run one.
Throughout the year, they visit multiple businesses and conclude with a final project: creating a business plan as if they were starting their own company.
About the Event
For this event, I worked closely with the program director to plan and organize the visit. I coordinated the schedule to ensure the executive team at Encore was available to share insights about their roles within the company and how each contributed to its overall success.
Additionally, I arranged a factory tour for the students, which gave them a hands-on look at the operations and processes involved in running a successful business. The students were engaged and asked thoughtful questions, and it was great to see them apply what they’ve been learning in real-world settings.
We had to ensure that everything was completed within the allotted time the group had at Encore, and I worked closely with everyone involved to make sure the agenda flowed smoothly and efficiently.
To enhance their experience, I also prepared folders filled with information about the company for the students to take with them. These materials provided valuable insights into Encore’s mission, operations, and the entrepreneurial journey. As an added bonus, I put together goody bags and provided snacks and drinks, making the event feel more personal and memorable for the students.
The event not only provided a great learning opportunity but also helped build stronger community ties by demonstrating Encore’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives. The students left with a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship and what it takes to run a business—further solidifying Encore’s role as a key player in both the business world and the local community.
Overall, the event provided valuable insights into entrepreneurship and gave the students a deeper understanding of what it takes to run a business, leaving them motivated and inspired by the experience.
